Privacy Policy & Message Retention

1. Account Information

To use Zeo Chat, you are only required to choose a username and password. We do not require, collect, or store your phone number, email address, physical address, or third-party social profiles. Upon registration, you are assigned an anonymous, unique User ID (e.g., USR123456) which serves as your public identifier for searching and adding contacts.

2. Message Storage & Private 1-to-1 Messaging

Messages and media shared between accepted friends are stored on the server's secure local SQLite database to deliver a synchronized experience across your sessions. Messaging is strictly private between accepted mutual contacts: users who are not accepted friends cannot initiate conversations or view chat histories.

3. Message Deletion Options

• Delete for Me: Removes the selected message from your personal view. The message remains accessible to your contact unless they also choose to delete it.
• Delete for Everyone: When requested by the sender within 24 hours of transmission, the message text is replaced with a deletion placeholder and any associated physical media files are permanently removed from the server.

4. Data Retention & Moderation Policy

In accordance with platform safety and moderation guidelines:

• Conversations and moderation records are subject to a configurable retention policy of 90 days.
• Authorized system administrators have access to platform moderation logs and conversations strictly for security enforcement, anti-abuse investigations, and platform maintenance.
• All administrative actions (such as inspecting user relationships or moderating inappropriate content) are permanently recorded in an immutable audit log tracking the administrator's ID, action taken, and timestamp.
• We do not create indefinite hidden copies or undisclosed spyware tracking.

5. Media and File Security

All images (max 5 MB) and PDF documents (max 2 MB) are verified for genuine MIME types, magic byte signatures, and absence of executable scripts. Uploaded files are assigned cryptographically random names and stored in directories where script execution is strictly disabled. Media can only be downloaded by verified conversation participants.

6. Contact & Rights

You may edit your username or delete messages at any time from within your account settings and chat interfaces.
